My first taste of yoga was an Iyengar class 10 years ago; I was fairly active and quite supple and went with the intention of maintaining my flexibility. At the end of that first class I realised that yoga is not about being flexible – there is much more to it. A couple of years later I attended a more dynamic class and was totally hooked! I was soon practising regularly and it was then it became a whole mind and body workout, keeping me balanced as life rushed around me.
Four years ago as my children had become more independent I felt I wanted to further my own practice and knowledge – I decided to take a Union Yoga teacher training course with Brian Cooper and Nichi Green. I absolutely loved it, I am now a qualified Ashtanga yoga teacher regsitered with Yoga Alliance UK and have been teaching classes regularly for the last three years. I have practised with some great teachers, learning from all of them and I continue with my own practice and attend workshops regularly to further my knowledge.
In January of 2013 I find myself starting a new adventure, having relocated to the North East of England. It was sad to leave my classes and students in Cheshire, but I have been cheered by the warmth and encouragement I have received since coming to Newcastle. I now have regular classes at Marriott Leisure in Gateshead and Pinetree Leisure in Jesmond and hope to add more classes very soon
